    The Global Nursing Review Program is designed to be completed within a 36-week study period, starting in the beginning of January 2008 and ending in mid-September 2008.  The program is divided into three sequential quarters, to be taken consecutively. There will be a total of 934 hours of instruction. There are vacation breaks between each quarter.

     

    Program Requirements 

    All applicants are not accepted into the GNR Program. There are strict requirements for admission which applicants must first meet.

    Professional:
                •  Applicants must be licensed nurses in their home country.
                •  Applicant’s course of study in home country must fulfill California state nursing requirements. Applicants lacking content requirements are strongly advised to fulfill any deficiencies before being accepted in the program.
                •  Applicants must undergo a background check to prove that there are no prior convictions or disciplinary actions against them or their license in their home country.*
                •  It is preferred that applicants have one to two years’ nursing experience in their home country.
                • Applicants must take The RN Comprehensive Predictor online exam (ATI) in their own country and score at least 58%.

    • The RN Comprehensive Predictor exam (ATI) is 96% predictive of outcomes on the NCLEX-RN exam.  Summary score information is useful for identifying strengths and knowledge deficits in specific content areas.  This 3-hour test consists of 180 items at the RN level and includes the following content areas: medical-surgical, mental health, pediatric, maternal-newborn, leadership, management, pharmacology and community health nursing.  It is also strongly recommended that a nurse take this test a second time at the end of the second quarter and a third time at the end of the third quarter.

Language:
            Participants must have a minimum of:
            • TOEFL® score of 523 (paper)/193 (computer), or
            • TOEIC® score of 700 or above, or
            • IELTS® score of 5.5, or
            • MPT English placement test score of 95 plus TSE® score of 45 or above, or
            • Successful completion of the 600 level of UCR Extension’s Intensive English Program plus TSE® score of 45 or above.

Health
            •  Applicants must be in good health with no communicable diseases.*
            •  Applicants must undergo health examination in the United States.*
